CAmpus On Stage. Empowering minds, one performance
at a time

CAOS – CAmpus On Stage is an interdisciplinary and international collaboration between University of Exeter and Università degli Studi di Torino, part-funded by the Experimentation and Innovation (Global Classrooms Fellowship 2024/2025), University of Exeter.

“We know that learning processes become more effective and meaningful when they are contextualized within a teacher-student relationship, when they stimulate emotional engagement, when they are accompanied by enjoyable experiences, and when they involve the body at a motor or sensory level. In this context, theatre practice emerges as a highly innovative, experiential, and engaging teaching tool.”

- Silvia Casarone, Role

It builds on recent calls to develop appropriate pedagogical tools to teach complex issues (e.g., environmental justice) within a socio-ecological approach to Higher Education. How can we ensure that different standpoints, particularly those often silenced and neglected, are included and that students play an active role in making their experience of learning truly memorable and transformative? Our approach is that drama techniques enable us to address these questions.

This website is a showcase of our interventions during the fellowship, and an invitation for scholars to apply drama techniques in their own classrooms.

CAOS promotes the inclusion and development of responsible, critical and free individuals.
